Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV said the government should fast-track the roll out of financial assistance and other mitigating measures promised under the tax reform program.
The Senator made the remark as he warned that the high prices of sugar, flour, bread and other sweetened products, which are essential goods, would hit poor Filipinos hard.
“Wala na ngang ihihigpit ang sinturon ng mga mahihirap na Pilipino dahil sa TRAIN Law, lalo pa silang mahihirapan kung tataas ang presyo ng asukal,” he said.
The Sugar Regulatory Administration promotes growth and development of the sugar industry and monitors sugar prices.
The senator also urged the administration to support his course of action regarding the suspension and roll back of excise tax on petroleum products under the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law.
