Balikbayan killed in Ilocos Norte car crash a day before wedding

LAOAG CITY — A balikbayan from Hawaii, who was set to marry on Thursday (June 28), was killed along with another passenger of a van that crashed into the welcome arch of Bacarra town on Wednesday dawn (June 27), police said.

Kauai island resident Tristan Lorenzo, 35, and Christian Philip Agravante died from the crash, which injured six other passengers: Aristotle Riveral, 21; Jhumer Cristobal, 24; Whilly Porillo, 18; Aervelle Cylde Pascua, 23; Aerolle Khave Pascua, 22; and Christian Philip Agravante, 32, all residents of Barangay 1 at Pagudpud town in Ilocos Norte province.

Their gray Toyota Hi-Ace van was headed south along the national highway in Cadaratan village at 1:25 a.m. when the 31-year-old driver, Ryan Martinez, lost control of the steering wheel and crashed. Leilani Adriano/lb
