President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed new associate justices to the Court Appeals (CA) and the Sandiganbayan.
Duterte named two new CA associate justices: Dorothy Montejo-Gonzaga, replacing Romeo Barza, and Emily Aliño-Geluz, replacing Leoncia Dimagiba.
The President also appointed to Sandiganbayan Georgina Dumpit Hidalgo, replacing Rodolfo Ponferrada.
Montejo-Gonzaga is the Davao del Norte judge who ordered the arrest of self-confessed hitman Edgar Matobato.
Geluz previously served as judge at the Las Piñas Regional Trial Court and the Imus Municipal Trial Court.
Hidalgo, meanwhile, is a Caloocan City Regional Trial Court judge who was elected as president of the Philippine Judges Association in 2015.
