SAN PEDRO CITY – Authorities seized P6.5 million worth of “unregistered” health and beauty products in two warehouses in Imus City, Cavite province, the police said Friday.
The raid, headed by the Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Camp Crame, also led to the arrest of the alleged owner Zynor Gacusan, his assistant Fea Shane Feniza, and warehouse caretaker Cris Ramirez.
A copy of the police report obtained from the Imus City police, said the raid happened Thursday afternoon in Barangay Bayan Luma.
Law enforcers were armed with search warrants issued by Judge Agripino Morga of Regional Trial Court branches 29-32 of San Pablo City, Laguna, for violations of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) law.
“The products were not registered with the FDA,” said Supt. Audi Madrideo, Imus City police chief, in a phone interview.
Among those recovered were packs of shampoo, whitening soap, slimming tea and coffee, sun block, facial clay masks, and detoxifying products.
Prior to the raid, the police said Gacusan and Feniza sold some of the products to an FDA agent who went undercover.
The suspects and the seized items were brought to the national police headquarters in Camp Crame.
