Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat sees no need to change the tourism campaign slogan “It’s more fun in the Philippines.”
Puyat believes that the slogan, introduced by former Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez in 2011 under the Aquino administration, was a “successful” one.
“There should be a slogan that should stick. I really think ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines’ works,” Puyat said in the regular Kapihan sa Manila Bay news forum on Wednesday.
“I believe there should be continuity. It was started by Ramon Jimenez in 2011, and I believe it was a very successful campaign,” the Tourism chief said.
Like Malaysia’s tourism slogan “Malaysia, truly Asia” which has been used since 1999, Puyat said there should be “continuity” in the Philippines’ tourism campaign.
“That should be part of marketing a country. The campaign should be continuous, not constantly changing. It should stick,” she stressed.
The public, Puyat said, can expect the current tourism slogan to run until 2022 when the Duterte administration steps down.
“At least you can be sure at least that until 2022, it will be ‘It’s more fun in the Philippines,’” Puyat vowed.
“Having said that, I would like to thank (former Tourism) Secretary Wanda (Teo) because she also continued the slogan. She did not change it,” she added. /vvp
