2 suspected criminals slain in Zamboanga del Norte clash
ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two suspected criminals were killed in a clash with authorities in Barangay Malambuhanginan in Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte province on Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, the Western Mindanao police’s deputy director for administration, identified the slain suspects as Ibrahim Tunggal and Halid Antao.
De Ocampo said members of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion under Senior Insp. Allan Rosete, and soldiers from the 42nd Infantry Battalion under 1Lt. Jayson Basoy, were conducting a joint law enforcement operation, when they clashed with armed men under the Jamilon Tukalan Group.
The group was behind incidents of kidnapping and robbery in the so-called Triple SB Complex – composed of Siocon, Sirawai, Sibuco and Baliguian towns.
He said during the 10 a.m. clash, Tunggal, also known as Isnain Jacob; and Antao, alias Alih Anto Lumigues, were killed. Another suspect was captured.
