Suspected drug peddler shot dead in Davao City
DAVAO CITY – Police shot and killed a suspected drug peddler during a shootout in Calinan district here on Tuesday, authorities said.
Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, Southern Mindanao police regional spokesperson, said alias Trongco died upon arrival at the nearest hospital due to bullet wounds after allegedly resisting arrest during a buy-bust operation.
Backed by elements of the Calinan police, a poseur-buyer bought P200 worth of dried marijuana from the suspect in front of a barbershop along Roman Diaz Street, Poblacion Calinan around 8:25 a.m.
Apparently sensing he was selling marijuana to an undercover police, the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the lawman but it misfired, prompting the policeman to shoot him several times in self-defense, Driz said.
