A MANILA-BASED production is in Cebu to stage a musical about the special role of teachers.
“Ang Guro,” directed and written by Paul M. Ballano, is a two-hour musical starring artists Karel Marquez, Pinky Marquez and Alvin Aragon.
“The musical will change your perspective of teachers and the way you value education,” Ballano said.
The musical tells different stories about teachers who make an impact on students with leadership potential.
“Ang Guro” has been staged in theaters, public and private schools and universities in Luzon.
The play is recommended by the Department of Education schools divisions in the National Capital Region, Region 3 and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon).
Ballano said that in Luzon, students’ performances improved after watching the play. “They were inspired, and that’s what we want every Filipino student to be,” he said.
This is the first time to bring the play to the Visayas and this will be the 80th show.
The production team composed of 42 members, including Ballano, arrived from Manila last Nov. 18 in time for the show today, Nov. 25, at SM City Cebu Cinema 2 and tomorrow, Nov. 26, at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City. The play time at SM Cinema 2 are at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
