Ranking CPP official falls in gov’t manhunt

Government operatives arrested a reported ranking official and medical staff of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in Central Luzon following a manhunt operation launched by the authorities in Bataan, police said Thursday.

Joint teams from the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) arrested on Wednesday Juanito Carabeo, alias Ka Toktok, in Sitio Sun Shine, Barangay San Juan, Samal town at around 4:30 p.m., Central Luzon Police regional director Chief Supt. Amador Corpus said in a statement.

Carabeo was arrested by joint members of the police and military regional intelligence teams, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Bataan 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, Samal MPS, Philippine Air Force, Samal Municipal Police, 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, and Naval Intelligence Security Group.

The team served a warrant of arrest against Carabeo for murder, arson and rebellion charges filed before the Balanga City Regional Trial Court Branch 2.

Carabeo was brought to the Samal municipal police station for processing and detention. /jpv
