CITY OF CALAPAN – At least 23 town chiefs of police in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) were relieved from their posts because of their dismal performance on the anti-illegal drugs campaign.
Mimaropa police information officer Supt. Imelda Tolentino said on Wednesday that the relief was recommended by members of the oversight committee on illegal drugs on June 8.
Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis Licup, director of the Mimaropa police, approved the recommendation, stating the failure of the police officials to meet the requirements set by the committee on the number of accomplishments in their anti-illegal drugs operation covering the period December 5,2017 to May 31 this year.
Effective June 11, ordered relieved were eight police chiefs in Palawan; five each in Occidental Mindoro and Romblon; four in Oriental Mindoro; and one in Marinduque.
In Palawan, the chiefs of police in the following towns were relieved: Aborlan, Agutaya, Balabac, Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Culion, Linapacan and Quezon.
The chief of Irawan police station in Puerto Princesa City was also relieved.
Also sacked were the police chiefs in the towns of Looc, Lubang, Calintaan, Paluan and Abra de Ilog in Occidental Mindoro; Alcantara, Calatrava, San Agustin, Sta. Fe and Ferrol towns in Romblon; Bongabong, Bulalacao, San Teodoro and Mansalay in Oriental Mindoro; and Sta. Cruz town in Marinduque.
Licup warned the remaining town police chiefs or officers in charge, to triple their efforts on their anti-criminality operations, especially on illegal drugs.
