Cops kill man wanted for drugs in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – Police killed a man wanted for drug pushing as he resisted arrest in Gumaca town in Quezon province Tuesday night.

Gumaca police chief Sr. Insp. San Juan Felmar Aquino said in a report that authorities were about to serve the warrant of arrest against Alberto “Billy” Lee, 58, in Barangay Progreso around 7:30 p.m. when a shootout ensued.

The arresting team included anti-illegal drugs operatives from the local police station and provincial headquarters, Aquino noted.

Lee reportedly fired at authorities using his caliber .45-pistol instead of surrendering peacefully. This prompted policemen to shoot back, killing the suspect.

Police said another drug suspect managed to run away and escape during the chaos.

According to police, Lee has been a wanted man for being a drug pusher in Lucena City. The suspect, police added, went into hiding in Gumaca town to elude arrest. /kga
