Rage at lesbian affair turns tragic
An apparent lesbian relationship involving his wife and another woman drove a farmer into a fit of rage that ended in tragedy.
The farmer, Danilo Belgira, shot dead his wife and the woman after finding them sleeping together at his home in Poblacion, a village in Matalam town, North Cotabato.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, spokesperson of the North Cotabato police, said Belgira was also shot dead by police officers when he refused to peacefully surrender and shot the law enforcers.
Citing investigators’ accounts, Tayong said Belgira arrived home around 6 a.m. and found his wife, Evelyn, and another woman, Miraluna Brigole, sleeping together.
Belgira, suspecting that his wife was having a lesbian relationship, pulled a .45-caliber pistol and shot the two women.
Two relatives tried to pacify Belgira but they were shot, too, and wounded. —Edwin O. Fernandez
