Big Chill escapes NLEX; DUB Unlimited ends skid
CHARLES Jensen scored 21 points and the Big Chill took advantage of NLEX’s endgame mishaps to win, 85-83, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup yesterday at the Trinity University of Asia gym.
Jensen, a 6-oot-4 power forward, went 8-of-12 from the field including 3-of-4 from 3-point range. Big Chill also got big games from its backcourt fleet of Raffy Reyes, Elliot Tan, Jerry Glorioso and Raymond Maconocido, who combined for 40 points.
In the second game, DUB Unlimited snapped a five-game skid at the expense of Freego Jeans, 78-62. The Wheelers took control by scoring the last eight points of the second quarter for a, 30-27 halftime lead and continued to dominate the Jeans Makers in the second half to nail their first win.
Marlon Gomez scored 19 points and Jake Pascual had 11 rebounds for DUB Unlimited.
The rigors of playing two games in a span of less than an hour took its toll on Freego Jeans who played for Adamson in the Philippine Collegiate Championship League early in the afternoon.
Roider Cabrera scored 12 points and Raymond Austria added 11 for Freego Jeans which picked its first loss in six games. The Super Chargers improved to 4-1 and shared second spot with Cebuana Lhuillier. The two teams will face each other on Monday. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
