MANILA, Philippines —  Overcast skies and rain showers in several parts of the country are expected on Wednesday due to the extension of a tropical storm outside the Philippine area of responsibility, according to the state weather bureau.

Tropical Storm Bebinca was last spotted some 2,070 east of Eastern Visayas, packing maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 90 kph, according to Obet Badrina, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Sa silangang bahagi ng bansa ay nakakaapekto na ang kaulapan na dala ng bagyong si Bebinca,” Badrina said in a public weather forecast.

(The eastern part of the country is experiencing the effect of the cloud clusters brought by Bebinca.)

“So possible magkaroon ng maulap na kalangitan na may kalat-kalat na pag-ulan sa may Eastern Visayas, gayundin sa bahagi ng Bicol region at Caraga,” he added.

(So, overcast skies with scattered rains are possible in Eastern Visayas, the Bicol Region and the Caraga Region.)

Badrina added that fair weather will continue in Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Ngayong araw, malaking bahagi pa rin ng ating bansa ay makararanas ng fair weather,” he said.

(Today, most parts of the country can expect fair weather.)

No gale warning is in effect over any of the country’s seaboards.
