Marcos on VP’s sorry for seeking KJC’s vote for him: ‘That’s her prerogative’

Manila, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. shrugs off Vice President Sara Duterte’s apology to Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC) members for asking them to vote for him in the 2022 polls.

At the same time, Marcos admitted that he does not understand why Duterte would apologize.

“Well, it’s her prerogative. I still don’t understand why, but if that is her wish, wala tayong magagawa (we can’t do anything about it),” he said.

Duterte made the remark at the same time that around 2,000 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) raided the KJC compound in Buhangin District, Davao City in an effort to serve wanted fugitive Apollo Quiboloy his arrest warrant.

In her statement, Duterte condemned the raid and called it a “gross abuse of police power.”

She then apologized to KJC members for campaigning for Marcos in the 2022 national elections.

“Kaya nais ko ring humingi ng kapatawaran sa lahat ng miyembro, deboto at bumubuo ng Kingdom of Jesus Christ sa paghikayat at pakiusap ko sa inyong iboto si Bongbong Marcos Jr. noong 2022. Nawa’y mapatawad ninyo ako,” Duterte said.

(So I also want to ask for forgiveness from all the members, devotees and constituents of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ for encouraging and asking you to vote for Bongbong Marcos Jr. in 2022. May you forgive me.)

Quiboloy is facing child abuse cases before a Davao City court, and he also has an arrest warrant for human trafficking issued by a Pasig City court.

Refusing to face his charges, Quiboloy is believed to be hiding within the Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound in Davao City.
