A student was arrested for reportedly shoplifting over P3,000 worth of skirts and tops at a clothing store inside a mall in Manila on Tuesday, according to police.

MANILA, Philippines — A student was arrested for reportedly shoplifting over P3,000 worth of skirts and tops at a clothing store inside a mall in Manila on Tuesday, according to police.

In a report issued Thursday, the Manila Police District (MPD) identified the 21-year-old student as “Jia,” who was caught by a store associate, Arloy Lucban, secretly placing the items inside her bag.

Police said Lucban did not immediately approach the suspect, who moved out of the customer’s exit, which triggered the store’s anti-theft sensor.

Upon checking the suspect’s bag, Lucban found a short-sleeved white polo, a white skirt, and a crepe jersey sleeveless, amounting to a total of P3,170.

MPD disclosed that Jia was brought to a hospital for medical examination and is currently under police custody for further investigation.
