2 cyclones outside PAR unlikely to affect PH; fair weather seen

MANILA, Philippines – Although the weather bureau has been monitoring two tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), it does not expect these to affect the country.
“Cyclones with international names Ampil and Wukong (were last tracked) east of Japan. These are too far from PAR and from the landmass,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spokesperson Chris Perez said on Thursday during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program on PTV.
Both cyclones, he said, do not have a direct effect on any part of the country.

Despite this, Perez said Pagasa will continue to monitor these cyclones.
Article continues after this advertisementPerez said the southwest monsoon or habagat will remain across Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.
Article continues after this advertisementHe warned the public against possible flash floods and landslides, advising them to monitor heavy rainfall advisories from the regional office.
“We expect the habagat to bring rains across Northern Luzon in the next three to five days,” he said, adding the public should also be prepared against localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Perez said forecast generally fair and humid weather to prevail in Metro Manila, the Visayas and Mindanao.
Chances of isolated rain showers are still likely.
“So don’t forget to bring an umbrella to protect yourselves against the sun and rain,” he said.
Perez also urged the public to monitor weather updates through Pagasa’s website and social media accounts.
