Parts of Luzon, Visayas to see cloudy skies, rain Tuesday, Aug 6

MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Luzon and the Visayas will experience overcast skies and rain on Tuesday, Aug. 6, due to the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Kung makikita natin dito sa may satellite image, ay may mga makakapal po na kaulaapan na posibleng magdulot ng maulan na panahon dito sa ilang bahagi ng southern Luzon at Kabisayaan,” said Pagasa expert Rhea Torres during an early morning public weather report.

(As we can see in the satellite image, there are thick cloud clusters that may cause rain showers in parts of southern Luzon and Visayas.)

The southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, being the dominant weather system during the country’s wet season, is forecast to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan in Luzon, and Western Visayas this Tuesday.

As for the rest of the country, warm weather is expected to prevail.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi po ng ating bansa, although may namamataan tayo na kaulapan, hindi naman po sila tumatagal so most likely magiging mainit pa din po ang panahon,” Torres said.

(Although Pagasa spotted some cloud clusters for the rest of the country, they are not seen to last, and warm weather is most likely.)

On the low-pressure area last spotted 835 kilometers east-northeast of extreme northern Luzon, Pagasa said it is unlikely to become a tropical cyclone and was not affecting the country, according to Torres.

Also on Tuesday, Pagasa did not raise any gale warnings over any seaboards nationwide.
