Mom of Carlos Yulo to sue over fake posts, libelous remarks
MANILA, Philippines — The mother of Olympic gold medallist Carlos Yulo will file charges against those who are spreading fake posts and libelous remarks about their family, her legal counsel said Tuesday.
Lawyer Raymond Fortun said Angelica Poquiz Yulo will seek the help of the National Bureau of Investigation in identifying individuals who committed crimes.

Fortun said: “The public is hereby informed that ALL statements made attributed to Mrs. Yulo and/or any of her children that are critical of, disparaging, or tend to tarnish the accomplishments of her son, CARLOS EDRIEL YULO are untrue, fake, and mere products of imagination and fantasy by heretofore unknown individuals.”
“The public is hereby reminded that the sharing of these fake posts, as well as harsh and libelous comments made in said posts, are also actionable under the Anti-Cybercrime Law,” Fortun also said. “It is advisable that the public DELETE their comments to avoid prosecution.”

Article continues after this advertisementYulo, 24, clinched his first gold late Saturday evening, while the second one followed the day after he scored the highest floor score in this year’s games.
Article continues after this advertisementAmid this, an old Facebook post of her mother congratulating a Japanese gymnast raised the eyebrows of social media users, with many interpreting it as a slight to her son.
The mother of Yulo also later gave an interview to Bombo Radyo, expressing disapproval regarding the Olympian’s relationship with Chloe San Jose.
The bemedalled gymnast has yet to publicly address the issue.
