Mother Lily will always be a titan in PH movie industry – Poe

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Grace Poe on Sunday expressed sadness and extended her condolences to the family and loved ones of Regal Entertainment founder Lily Monteverde, also known as “Mother Lily,” who died at the age of 85.

Poe described her as “a titan in the Philippine movie industry.”

Monteverde’s death was confirmed by her son, Goldwin Monteverde, on Sunday.

“I’m so sorry and sad to hear about Mother Lily’s passing. My Ninang Mother always believed in me and assured me whenever I doubted myself,” Poe wrote in a Facebook post.

“She has helped so many, and she will never be forgotten. She was, and will always be, a titan in the Philippine movie industry. Our deepest sympathies and condolences to her family and loved ones,” she added.

According to reports, Monteverde died almost a week after the death of her husband, Leonardo “Father Remy” Monteverde, last July 29.

Throughout her career in show business, Monteverde has produced over 300 films such as the “Mano Po” anthology, “Scorpio Nights,” “Blue Moon,” “Shake, Rattle, & Roll” series, and “My Monster Mom,” among others.
