A 35-year-old man was shot and killed in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, on Friday, August 2, 2024, allegedly over an old grudge, according to police. INQUIRER FILES

LUCENA CITY — A 35-year-old man was shot and killed in Dasmariñas City, Cavite allegedly over an old grudge, police said.

The Police Region 4A said in a report on Saturday, Aug. 3, that Prudencio Macaspac Jr. was attacked in front of his house in Barangay (village) Salawa around evening Friday.

The suspect, identified as “Jerby,” 30, reportedly arrived aboard a motorcycle and, without any provocation, repeatedly shot Macaspac using a caliber .9mm pistol.

The gunman, a resident of the same village, fled after the shooting and left his target dead.

The victim was taken to a hospital in the locality but was declared dead on arrival due to fatal gunshot wounds.

Citing information from the sister of the victim, police said Macaspac and Jerby had an “old grudge” which could be the possible motive behind the killing.
