Sona 2024: Marcos vows to improve PH airports, docks

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. vowed to improve the country’s airports and docks during his third State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday.

Marcos said the Ninoy Aquino International Airport will soon be able to accommodate 48 flights per hour and cater to more than 62 million passengers every year.

“More than 70 airports and seaport development projects across the country have now been completed and another 350 ongoing projects are set to be completed by the year 2028,” he added.

The President also said the capacities of the General Santos Airport and the Bicol International Airport were expanded by 300 and 500 percent, respectively.

The General Santos Airport and the Bicol International Airport now cater to 2,000 and 1,600 passengers, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Batangas Port Terminal a popular gateway to Mimaropa, Visayas, and Mindanao can now accommodate 8,000 travelers at any given time, the President said.
