MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Tuesday urged the public to report a Facebook page imitating the social media page of the agency.

According to the DSWD, the fake page “DSWD News Update” spreads false information about its programs and other government agencies.

A screengrab of the fake page featured an alleged scholarship from the Commission on Higher Education for 2024 to 2025, claiming recipients can receive a P7,000 monthly allowance.

“Ang naturang pekeng page ay patuloy pa rin sa pagkukunsinte sa pagpapalaganap ng fake news patungkol sa DSWD at sa iba pang ahensya ng gobyerno. Walang anumang kaugnayan ang DSWD dito,” the DSWD said in its advisory.

(The fake page is continuously disseminating false information about the DSWD and other government agencies. The DSWD has no affiliation with this page.)

It also told the public to be careful of posts that did not come from its official page and told them to verify first.
