LUCENA CITY — Two picnickers drowned Sunday in a river in the Sierra Madre mountain ranges in General Nakar town in Quezon province.

Quezon police said in a report on Monday, July 1, that “Ronald”, 32, and “Mark”, 34, both residents of Quezon City, were with some friends at a picnic along Agos River in Barangay Maigang on Sunday morning.

The report said the raging water swept the two while swimming in the river from the Sierra Madre to the Pacific Ocean.

The bodies of the two were found floating around 1 p.m. in another part of the river.

They were declared dead on arrival at a hospital in neighboring Infanta town.

Police are conducting further investigations.

For now, police have recorded the case as a “drowning incident.”
