PAOCC staff, Pogo witnesses get death threats, says official
Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) personnel and witnesses on cases related to its ongoing probe into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (Pogos) have been receiving death threats, an official revealed Monday.
PAOCC Undersecretary Gilbert Cruz, however, admitted that for their staff, getting death threats might be part of their job. For witnesses, he noted, it could be different, expressing fear that they might give in to their worry and affect PAOCC’s cases against Pogos.
Tarriela: CCG did not assist, but hindered rescue in WPS
China Coast Guard (CCG) ships reportedly blocked and maneuvered dangerously close to a Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel en route to rescue two fisherfolk who sustained injuries after their boat’s engine exploded near Bajo de Masinloc in West Philippine Sea (WPS).
PCG spokesperson Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said the CCG eventually let their multi-role response vessel (MRRV) through after hearing about the explosion.
Injured fishermen rescued in Bajo de Masinloc arrive in Subic
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel deployed to rescue two injured fishermen near Bajo de Masinloc in the West Philippine Sea (WPS) arrived safely in Subic, Zambales early Monday morning.
In a statement, PCG said BRP Sindangan or multi-role response vessel (MRRV)-4407 arrived at the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Port at around 4:45 a.m.
More expensive fuel prices set Tuesday, July 2
Motorists will continue to pay more for petroleum products this week, with oil firms implementing a new round of price increases starting Tuesday.
In separate advisories on Monday, Seaoil, Shell Pilipinas, and Petro Gazz said pump prices will jump by as much as 95 centavos, marking the third consecutive week of hikes.
