MANILA, Philippines — A TikTok video that claims that all students nationwide will receive a scholarship allowance is fake, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warned on Friday.

In an advisory posted on its Facebook page, the DSWD said it would never ask for students’ personal information as it was against the Data Privacy Act.

The TikTok video claims that students from elementary to college can receive scholarship allowances from P2,000 to P5,000.

However, they must first register through a link to receive the alleged allowance.

The DSWD also urged the public to report the video.

“We remind all to be careful and not to click any link from posts that do not come from the official DSWD Facebook page. Always check and verify the content that one reads online,” the DSWD added in Filipino.
