MANILA, Philippines — A portion of Hidalgo Street in Manila will be temporarily closed to traffic starting Friday, June 28, to allow road improvement works by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In an advisory, the DPWH said Hidalgo Street’s northbound lane will be repaired, so a road lane will be closed. Hidalgo Street is located between Bilibid Viejo Street and Estero de Quiapo.

“The rehabilitation works will cover a length of 377.60 linear meters and width of 9.50, requiring partial road closure of one lane,” it noted.

The DPWH also said a stop-and-go scheme would be implemented in the area and encouraged motorists to use alternate routes.

“While a stop-and-go scheme will be implemented, motorists are advised of traffic slowdowns in the affected areas, and to use possible alternate routes. Rest assured that the lanes will be opened immediately after the construction activities,” it said.
