TikTok video on 2028 election survey ‘false, fabricated’ – ABS-CBN News

MANILA, Philippines—A TikTok video about a purported June 2024 Pulse Asia Survey on the 2028 polls supposedly reported on ABS-CBN News by one of its reporters “is false and fabricated.”

ABS-CBN issued the denial Friday, as the video is still circulating online and on social media.

The news company said the TikTok video maliciously used the voice of one of its reporters and its brand.

“A TikTok video circulating online about a supposed June 2024 Pulse Asia Survey on the 2028 elections, carrying the brand of ABS-CBN News and one of its reporters’ voice to make it appear as a TV Patrol report, is false and fabricated,” ABS-CBN News said in a Facebook post.

Political scientist Julio Teehankee, who appeared in the TikTok video, also raised concern, noting that his appearance on the material was deepfake content.

“A deep-faked version of me allegedly explaining the lead of a possible 2028 presidential candidate is now circulating on Tik-Tok. This is fake news that also manipulated the voices and clips of ABS-CBN anchor Henry Omaga Diaz and reporter RG Cruz,” Teehankee said in a social media post.

ABS-CBN News reporter RG Cruz, whose appearance and voice were used in the Tiktok video, said that Pulse Asia had not published such a survey.

Cruz also reminded social media users to be careful of the content that they read or watch online.

“Always check the accounts of posts you see on social media if these are authentic accounts of trusted news sources or people you know personally. Please be cautious before sharing anything,” Cruz added.
