TACLOBAN CITY, LEYTE, Philippines — House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan said Tingog Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez, chair of the House committee on accounts, had committed to funding the feasibility study of a proposed bridge that would link Eastern Visayas region to Luzon via Sorsogon province.

An initial P100 million will be allocated in next year’s national budget.

Libanan said the construction of the 27-kilometer Allen-Matnog bridge would ensure uninterrupted travel from Luzon to Mindanao and back, even during typhoons.

He said lawmakers from Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Mindanao also promised to support the project. —Joey Gabieta
