PNP to roll out health cards with P40,000 each starting next month

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police will distribute health cards containing P40,000 worth of coverage for each of its personnel and officers starting next month, according to chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.

Marbil said they will give out health maintenance organization (HMO) cards for the first time, which can be used at accredited establishments.

“Next month we will be giving yung HMO cards para sa bawat pulis although worth na P40,000 yan, maliit lang po but we will make sure na makakatulong sa inyo,” Marbil told reporters in an interview on Saturday.

(Next month, we will be distributing HMO cards to every police officer. Although it is only worth P40,000, we want to ensure this will help them.)

“We give them new cards so they can go anywhere, basta accredited yung establishment, ipakita lang nila yung HMO card nila. First time [ito], alam ninyo pagka nagka-kasakit kami talagang nababaon kami sa utang, ” he added.

In a separate statement, the PNP said that in addition to the health cards, it also held “Pamilya Ng Pulis, Family Day” at its headquarters in Camp Crame on the same day “to enhance the lives and morale of police officers’ dependents.”

The event was participated by 1,500 individuals, including 800 PNP dependents from its various units.

Government agencies such as the Department of Migrant Workers and the Department of Labor and Employment, among others, contributed to the event by setting up booths and offering services such as ID processing and renewal, livelihood and skills training registration, medical services, and job openings.
