LUCENA CITY — A 47-year-old bicycle rider died in a road accident Friday at the Maharlika Highway in Tiaong town in Quezon province.
A report from the Quezon police headquarters on Saturday said Rufino Basco, while about to cross a section of the highway in Barangay Lalig around 11 p.m., was accidentally bumped by a passing Mitsubishi L300 van driven by one “Ramon,” 37.
Basco suffered fatal head and body injuries and died on the spot.

The driver was detained at the town police jail and is facing criminal charges.
