Marcos signs laws creating DPWH district engineering offices

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed into law several legislations creating district engineering offices of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in different provinces.

The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said in a statement Tuesday that Marcos signed on June 7 Republic Act (RA) No. 11998, forming DPWH’s Bukidnon Fourth District Engineering Office in Valencia City, which will serve the municipalities of Pangantucan and Kalilangan.

It also said that on June 13, Marcos signed RA No. 12002, allowing the establishment of the DPWH Negros Occidental Fifth District Engineering Office in San Carlos City, which will cater to the cities of Escalante and San Carlos and the municipalities of Toboso, Calatrava, and Salvador Benedicto.

Likewise on June 13, the PCO said Marcos signed RAs No. 12003 and 12004 to create the DPWH Bataan Third District Engineering Office and Bulacan Third District Engineering Office, respectively.

The DPWH Bataan Third District Engineering Office will be located in Bagac town and serve the municipalities of Bagac, Dinalupihan, Mariveles, and Morong.

The Bulacan Third District Engineering Office, meanwhile, will serve the municipalities of San Rafael, Dona Remedios Trinidad, San Miguel, and San Ildefonso.

The PCO further said that Marcos signed RA No. 12005 to establish the DPWH Iloilo Sixth District Engineering Office in the municipality of Pototan, which will serve the municipalities of Badiangan, Cabatuan, Calinog, Janiuay, Lambunao, Maasin, Mina, and Pototan.

The PCO explained that the DPWH district engineering offices will receive funding from the national government’s annual budget.
