MANILA, Philippines — A Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel was arrested for illegally firing his gun while drinking with a group of men in the early hours of Tuesday, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.

According to the NCRPO, a barangay official heard a gunshot at around 1:00 am on R. Papa Street in Sampaloc, Manila, which prompted him to go to the source of the incident.

When he arrived, he saw a group of men drinking, including PCG Apprentice Seaman Christopher Busilan, whom he asked about the gunshot.

Busilan denied the incident, but their neighbor said the gunshot came from the house where Busilan was.

Busilan then admitted that he was the one who fired the gun, leading to his arrest.

Authorities recovered a revolver with two live ammunition and a cartridge case in Busilan’s possession.

INQUIRER.net has contacted the Manila Police District to ask Busilan’s motive for firing.
