PAWS asks help for medical needs of rescued pets from Pampanga Pogo hub

MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (Paws) is asking for help with the medical needs of rescued cats and dogs from the raided Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) facility in Porac, Pampanga.
Paws said the animals may only be offered for adoption after necessary medical attention is given to them.
“Again, they are not up for adoption yet, as they have just been rescued, and what they urgently need is help with their medical needs,” the group said in a Facebook post on Monday.

Paws added that when it opens its adoption procedures, it will prioritize those with good records of adopting aspins, or local Philippine dogs, as it is wary of those who adopt only because of the animal’s breed.
“Due to the sudden high volume of interest in adopting these rescues, despite PAWS already having 200+ rescued animals at the shelter who are fully recovered and have been waiting for homes, PAWS will be extra wary of those applying for adoption solely based on the animals’ breed,” it said.

Paws said it will also spay or neuter the animals after they get their initial medical treatments to discourage potential adopters from selling or breeding the animals.
Paws said donors can send their donations through their e-wallet and bank accounts.
