MANILA, Philippines — The municipal government of Los Baños suspended classes in all levels on Monday due to the effects brought by severe tropical storm Aghon (international name: Ewiniar) in Laguna province.

The municipal government made the announcement on its official Facebook page around 4 p.m.
“Suspendido ang mga klase bukas dahil sa Typhoon Aghon. Gamitin ang pagkakataon na ito para manatiling nasa loob ng bahay, mag-update sa mga pinakabagong abiso sa panahon, at bigyang-pansin ang kaligtasan ng inyong sarili at ng inyong mga mahal sa buhay,” it wrote in a post.

Earlier, the University of the Philippines Los Baños also made a separate announcement at 2 p.m.
“Due to damages brought about by Typhoon Aghon on campus and other parts of Laguna, classes in UPLB are suspended tomorrow, Monday, 27 May 2024,” the university’s post read.
“This will allow us to conduct clearing and repair operations on campus and our respective homes,” it added.
Exams and other in-person activities for Monday, will also be rescheduled following the suspension.
Based on its 5 p.m. cyclone bulletin, the state weather bureau said Aghon is now over the coastal waters of Mauban, Quezon carrying maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center with gustiness of up to 130 kph. It is moving slowly in northeastward direction.
Following this development, the agency further reported that it raise Signal No. 3 over the eastern section of Quezon province (Infanta, Real, Mauban) including Polillo Islands (Panukulan, Burdeos, Patnanungan, and Polillo).
Meanwhile, Laguna is currently under Signal No. 2.
