MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Aghon made two landfalls since Friday night, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a 5 a.m. press briefing on Saturday, Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the landfalls were recorded at Homonhon Island in Guiuan, Eastern Samar at 11 p.m. on May 24, and at Giporlos, Eastern Samar, at 12:40 a.m. on May 25.

“Sa kasalukuyan nakaka-apekto na ito sa malaking bahagi ng Eastern Visayas, so for the next 24 hours inaasahan natin ang patuloy na epekto nito sa Eastern Visayas area. After that, lalabas ito sa karagatan ng Samar Sea, kung saan posibleng magkaroon ulit ng susunod na mga landfall partikular na sa mga areas ng Bicol Peninsula,” Villamil said.

(Currently, it is affecting a large part of Eastern Visayas, so for the next 24 hours, we expect its continuous impact on the Eastern Visayas area. After that, it will move out to the Samar Sea, where it is possible to have subsequent landfalls, particularly in the areas of the Bicol Peninsula.)
