Taguig cops nab 2 individuals pretending to be MMDA traffic enforcers

Two individuals, including a former traffic enforcer guilty of extortion and grave misconduct, were arrested by the Taguig City Police due to usurpation of authority.

MANILA, Philippines — Two individuals, including a former traffic enforcer guilty of extortion and grave misconduct, were arrested by the Taguig City Police due to usurpation of authority.

In a Facebook post from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said on Wednesday, it identified the suspects as Tomas Taguinod Jr. and Karl Vincent Moaña.

“Sa inisyal na imbestigasyon, namamara diumano ng mga truck ang dalawang suspek sa bahagi ng C5 Road,” the post read.

(In the initial investigation, the two suspects were allegedly stopping trucks on a part of C5 Road.)

“Nakatanggap ng tawag ang desk officer ng Taguig City Police Substation 2 mula sa Taguig City Command Center kung saan iniulat na may dalawang lalaki na nagpakilalang sila ay traffic constable umano ng MMDA,” it continued.

(The desk officer of Taguig City Police Substation 2 received a call from the Taguig City Command Center reporting that two men are claiming to be traffic constables of the MMDA.)

Arresting officers immediately went to C5 Northbound, Centennial Village in Barangay Pinagsama, Taguig City.

The suspects failed to present a mission order and valid ID that proves their employment at the MMDA, which led to their apprehension.

The MMDA noted that Taguinod was their former traffic enforcer assigned at C5-McKinley.

He was proven guilty of extortion and grave misconduct in 2021, prompting the agency to not renew his job order contract.
