MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water Philippine Ventures (MWPV), a subsidiary of Manila Water catering to major cities and provinces outside of Metro Manila, has recently celebrated its 9th anniversary.

Recognizing the increasing demand for sustainable water and wastewater solutions for the domestic market, MWPV was established in 2015 to bring Manila Water’s brand of service to other service areas in the Philippines in need of reliable water and sanitation services.

Through the years, MWPV has been successful in expanding its trajectory. The Company is now present in 63 cities and municipalities in 26 provinces across the country, including Laguna, Batangas, Pampanga, Isabela, Pangasinan and Bulacan in Luzon, Aklan, Samar and Cebu in Visayas, and Davao del Norte and Misamis in Mindanao, serving over 1.7 million customers.

For MWPV, 2023 has been a remarkable year as it logged record-high productivity, both in revenue, expansion, and operational efficiencies.

In the said year, MWPV recorded P5.8-B in revenues and P750-M in earnings, supported by 6% billed volume growth, and higher contributions from several of its key businesses.

MWPV is also on its way in revolutionizing energy efficiency by integrating renewable energy in its operations. In December, MWPV subsidiary Boracay Water received the Special Award in Energy Efficiency Excellence category for the business unit’s notable improvement in energy use index.

The Company also continues to invest more on service improvement for its customers through capital expenditure projects and innovations. For 2021-2025, Boracay Water has allocated P1.1-B to further intensify water and wastewater service in Boracay Island and ensure compliance to its service obligations, while Clark Water is set to invest P5.56-B from 2023-2040 for service improvement in Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.

Recently, MWPV has signed a share purchase agreement or the sale and purchase of 70% shares in Equipacific HoldCo Inc. (EHI) which holds 90% of the outstanding shares of Laguna Water District Aquatech Resources Corporation (LARC), a joint-venture company providing water supply service in the municipalities of Los Baños, Bay, Calauan, Victoria and Nagcarlan in Laguna.

Moving forward, MWPV hopes to continue growing its footprint, with the goal of helping communities thrive through the provision of quality water and wastewater services.

“We still have a lot of things to do. For the next 12 months, we will focus on three things: continue to grow our business, improve how we do things in terms of operational efficiency, and make sure we maintain our engagement with our employees in the Non-East Zone,” said Melvin John Tan, Chief Operating Officer for Non-East Zone.

“For Manila Water, the Non-East Zone continues to be the platform for growth. I want to thank the men and women of Manila Water Philippine Ventures for the work that you do, and I’m looking forward to seeing how we can grow our footprint beyond what we have right now,” said Jocot De Dios, Manila Water President and CEO.
