The annual war games of Manila and Washington on Monday simulated the foiling of a foreign invasion attempt on the shores of Ilocos Norte, the northernmost mainland province near Taiwan.
Some 200 personnel conducted a live-fire exercise here at the La Paz Sand Dunes using the US marines’ Autonomous Truck Mounted Howitzer System (ATMOS) 155mm self-propelled guns and the Philippine military’s M101 105mm towed howitzers, as well as similar US assets.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday merely laughed off drug use allegations hurled against him and actress Maricel Soriano, as claimed by a document purportedly leaked by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
Alleged PDEA files linking Marcos and Soriano to drug use circulated online, with Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa seemingly lending credence to the reports, saying these documents are not fabricated.
Marcos ‘loyalists’ stage protest asking that ICC be allowed to probe Duterte
Supporters of President “Bongbong” Marcos, who deemed themselves as “loyalists,” gathered outside the Senate complex on Monday, urging the administration to cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and allow the entry of its probers in the Philippines.
Jean Diaz, a Marcos supporter since 1986, told INQUIRER.net that an estimated 300 “loyalists” have participated in the rally.
Fuel price rollback set for May 7
Local oil companies will slash pump prices by up to a peso per liter for the second straight week effective Tuesday, May 7.
In separate advisories, firms announce the price of gasoline would go down by 75 centavos per liter and diesel by 90 centavos per liter.
Meanwhile, kerosene prices will decrease by 1 peso and 5 centavos per liter.
