MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) has warned the public anew against falling prey to circulating social media posts offering supposed cash assistance to graduating students.
Over the weekend, the agency issued a “misinformation alert” on its Facebook page about a fake cash assistance worth P5,000 circulating online for graduating students of Class 2024.

According to the post, applicants must submit a “PSA,” a reference to their birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority, a good moral certificate, and their report card to qualify for the cash assistance.
The offer is open to graduating elementary, high school, and college students; the deadline is May 20.
This was the fourth time this year that the DepEd sounded an alarm on circulating posts offering students bogus cash assistance or scholarships.
The most recent post offered cash assistance to students, ranging from P5,000 to P10,000. —DEMPSEY REYES
