Drug suspect shot dead in Quezon

LUCENA CITY – A 33-year-old male drug suspect was killed early Sunday, May 5, in Tiaong, Quezon.

Quezon police reported that “Joseph”, 33, was walking his way home in Barangay (village) Cabay around 1 a.m.

Suddenly, a man with a caliber .45 pistol blocked his path and, without any provocation, repeatedly shot the victim.

The gunman fled after the shooting and left his target dead.

“We’re looking at it as drug-related killing,” Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Camposo, Tiaong police chief, said in a short phone interview.

Camposo said the investigators found a still undetermined volume of shabu in the victim’s pocket.

The police recovered one unfired bullet and three empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.

Camposo said the victim had no criminal records at the local police station. The probers are checking the records of police stations in other municipalities.

The police are conducting further investigation and are searching for video footage from closed-circuit television cameras in the area to identify the killer.
