Marcos vows modern seaports, meets execs of India’s largest port operator

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday vowed to modernize ports for the Philippines following a meeting with representatives from Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ. Ltd.).

APSEZ. Ltd. is one of the largest commercial port operators in India.

“With the help of foreign investors like APSEZ Ltd., we will fast-track the modernization of our ports. This will ensure dynamic trading and more job opportunities under ‘Bagong Pilipinas’!” said Marcos in his Facebook post.

In April, Marcos launched the expanded Port of Batangas. During the launch, Marcos underscored the importance of the port’s strategic roles.

“It is a gateway to the nation’s dynamic capital region, a portal to agricultural powerhouses, access point to island tourism paradises, and a receiver of goods that fill and fuel the vibrancy of our economy,” said Marcos during the event.
