Labor Day forecast: Overcast skies, rain over Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring overcast skies and rain over the southern portions of Mindanao on Labor Day, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“The weather remains cloudy in most of Mindanao, especially in the southern portions… and there are scattered rains due to the effects of the ITCZ,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.

“For the rest of Mindanao, expect partly cloudy skies with chances of rainfall, particularly in the afternoon and evening,” he added.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to overcast skies may prevail over Eastern Luzon, while fair weather conditions are expected over the rest of Luzon.

Chances of rain are also forecast in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Ilocos Region and Cagayan Valley due to isolated thunderstorms, but hot and humid temperatures should still be expected.

Fair weather is also forecast over the entire Visayas with chances of thunderstorms more likely in Eastern Visayas and Panay Island.

No storms or low pressure areas are expected to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility for the rest of the week.
