Cop dies after allegedly being shot by 7-year-old son in Negros

A  policeman was  shot to death  by his 7-year-old  son while he was  fighting with his live-in partner at their house in Purok Eba, Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, April 28.

BACOLOD – A policeman was shot and killed by his 7-year-old son while he was fighting with his live-in partner at their house in Purok Eba, Barangay Andres Bonifacio, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, April 28.

Staff Sgt. Lernie Luntayao Alacha, 44, was allegedly shot by his son using a 9-mm Glock 17 service firearm while in a fight with his live-in partner in their bedroom.

The incident was also witnessed by the couple’s 12-year-old adopted son.

While the policeman was having lunch with the suspect and the adopted son at their dining area, tension arose when he discovered numerous followers engaging with his live-in partner in her TikTok account, a police report said.

“This sparked jealousy and led to a heated argument between the couple, culminating in the victim expressing thoughts of self-harm. In a desperate attempt to intervene, the live-in partner grappled with the victim, leading to a struggle inside their room,” the report said.

Triggered by the escalating conflict, the 7-year-old retrieved his father’s service firearm and shot him on the left side of his neck resulting in his instantaneous death, the report added.

All three persons in the house are considered persons of interests and underwent paraffin tests, said Capt. Hanna Mesheil Banquil, Sagay deputy police chief, said on Sunday.
