Expect overcast skies and rain over Southern Mindanao due to ITCZ

MANILA, Philippines — The inter tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will bring overcast skies and rain over the southern portions of Mindanao on Thursday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“The ITCZ will continue to have an effect on the southern portion of Mindanao,” said Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja.

“In Basilan, Cebu and Tawi Tawi, overcast skies may prevail in South Cotabato, Sarangani and nearby areas starting early in the morning,” he added.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies and rain may also prevail over the rest of Mindanao.

On the other hand, fair weather conditions will prevail over Luzon and Visayas, with even lower chances of rain expected amid forecast hot and humid temperatures.

No storms or low pressure areas are also expected to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility for the rest of April.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Thursday will be:

  • Metro Manila: 26 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 17 to 27 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 27 to 38 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 23 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 26 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is currently in effect over the country’s surrounding coasts and in-land seas, with only slight to moderate wave conditions expected.
