With no fan or aircon in jail, Gigi Reyes breaks down—source
MANILA, Philippines – The former chief aide of Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, Jessica Lucila “Gigi” Reyes, broke down when she found out that she would be detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), a source said.
The source, a member of security, said he saw Reyes cry when the order of the third division court committing her to the BJMP was read to her.
She also cried when she found out she would be detained at the basement jail with no electric fan or airconditioner, the source said.
Reyes even kept on asking if there was an electric fan, aircon or a bed in the detention room, the source said.
Reyes is now detained at the basement jail for women, which has a window but no airconditioner and an electric fan that is not functioning.
Reyes was ordered detained at the Sandiganbayan after she surrendered on Friday. But since the court is requiring BJMP to make a report on its capacity to secure the accused, Reyes has been ordered detained at the court detention room, in the meantime.
