MANILA, Philippines?President Benigno Aquino III went to his family's estate in Tarlac for a breather from his duties as Chief Executive, the chief of the Presidential Security Group confirmed early Saturday evening.
"Yes, he is here; nagpapahinga lang po (just resting)," said PSG commander Colonel Ramon Dizon in a text message.
A Palace insider said the President left in the wee hours of Saturday to go to the province for a full rest.
"That's the only place where he can really recharge," said the source, who requested that he not be named because he's not authorized to speak on the matter.
The source said Aquino had no intention of touching base with any of the parties involved in the Hacienda Luisita dispute.
Aquino, in an earlier exchange with reporters, said he canceled a trip to Tarlac last weekend to avoid suspicions that he was meddling in the ratification of the hacienda?s controversial "compromise agreement."
