MANILA, Philippines?(UPDATE) Defending champion Ateneo handily beat University of the Philippines, 75-59, Saturday in the 73rd UAAP Men's Basketball Tournament at Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Emman Monfort had a career game of 23 points, six rebounds, five assist and four steals in 19 minutes as the Eagles pulled away from in the third quarter and never looked back, even stretching the lead to as many as 22 points.

The Eagles rose to second place and knotted with Adamson at 6-2 card while the Maroons remain winless with a dreary 0-8 mark.
