MANILA, Philippines ? The stolen vehicles of former Ambassador Roberto Romulo and the father of actor Derek Ramsey were recovered and two of the suspects arrested in a police raid Thursday night, Director Roberto Rosales, chief of the National Capital Region police office, said Friday.

Dale Alimagno and Glenn del Castillo, believed to be members of a car theft group, were arrested in a police operation in Filinvest 2, Quezon City past 11 p.m., Rosales said.

Rosales said acting on a tip, the authorities spotted two reportedly stolen Toyota Camry vehicles in the vicinity. When police attempted to approach the vehicles, the drivers reportedly shot at them.

The firefight that ensued led to the arrest of Alimagno and Del Castillo and the recovery of one Toyota Camry. Meanwhile, another suspect, identified later as Ivan Padilla or ?Jimmy,? the alleged leader of the gang, was able to escape on board another Camry.

Rosales said that upon checking, authorities discovered that the
recovered vehicle was registered to former Ambassador Roberto Romulo.

Romulo?s vehicle was stolen last July 26 near the Department of Energy building in Taguig City.

Alimagno and Del Castillo also led authorities to the stolen black Volvo SUV of Derek Ramsey Sr. That was recovered at the parking lot of Westmont Building in Paranaque City.
The Ramseys lost their car in Tagaytay City also on Monday.
Rosales said police have launched manhunt operations against Padilla.

Meanwhile, Alimagno and Del Castillo are facing charges for Violation of RA 6539 (Carnapping Law) and PD 1866 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunitions).
