MANILA, Philippines? The doors of the ruling administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD (Christian Muslim Democrats) are open for television host Edu Manzano should he decide to join its senatorial slate for the May 2010 election, presidential political adviser and Lakas-Kampi secretary general Gabriel Claudio said Thursday.

Claudio said Manzano was considered as a possible candidate in the administration?s Team Unity ticket in the 2007 senatorial election, but the actor backed out then.

?Last elections, we were very close to having him as candidate under the administration coalition. So given that near arrangement during the last election, he is welcome to join the Senate line-up of the administration,? he told reporters in an interview after the Lakas-Kampi national executive committee meeting in Quezon City.

A newspaper report indicated that Manzano has resigned his post as chairman of the Optical Media Board (OMB), effective September 10. In that report, the television host said he is still weighing his political options, including a possible senatorial bid, but did not give details.

Manzano has been chairman of the OMB since 2004. He also hosts the weekday television game show Game Ka Na Ba and was former host of the morning program Umagang Kay Ganda.
